200th Post and Lost and Found Photos Chapter 10

1933 This is little Edeltraut Kinder at 6 months of age at New Year's time.  Must be around or in Dresden.

This picture is from August 1953.  The 4 trenchcoated ladies are:

Lilo Wethner, Hanni Klinke, Irmgard Rueffer and Anita Groebel.  Picture developed at Foto-Lenz in Genthin.

1930 Else Schoenfeldt with Schniegs and Uschi? 

1935 Christening of child of the Kinder family of Dresden -Uebigau.

1931, the "Oberin", or the woman in "charge" of the Ermelhaus.

The "front and back" belong together of the 2 items directly above.  It is addressed to Friedrich Garz, Prisoner of War in Camy de Coetzuidan (Morbihan) France.  Apparently he does receive his mail as my grandfather had it in his old album. It is postmarked from Tangermuende1 Mar 1915.  The writers Karl and Emma Garz say that they have not heard from him in a long time. Karl Garz appears in the picture with a group of interesting unknown friends and possibly relatives.

This picture was taken in 1915, also.  It is the school picture of Kurt Hoeke.  The children appear to be of various ages. No others were named.

1968.  This was the golden confirmation celebration of my grandmother, Frieda Louise Baatge-Hoeke.  It's dated as Fall 1968 in Genthin. 

The picture of the building is the apartment building my grandparents lived for the most of their married life.  The address was Friedenstr. 4 Genthin. This picture was dated Oct. 1954. The bottom picture shows my grandparents, Frieda and Karl Hoeke in an unknown year.  Clearly they were older by this time.  I really never got to know my grandmother, mother of my dad.  She and my grandfather lived in East Germany and we were in America.  While we were still in Germany, they came to visit us at one time.  My mom says that Grandfather Karl was very busy while there, but that my grandmother wanted to spend time with me.  I was a baby, of course, and that was the only time we were ever together.  My grandfather came to America in the late 1970's when we were expecting our 2nd baby.  That is the first time that I got to know him.  We were able to go back later a couple of times to visit him in Genthin.

This is Anna Wenzel and her daughter Ruth Wenzel.  1929.  I suspect she was also at the Ermelhaus in Radebeul at this time.

This is in 1925 and is Lenchen Kopke of Grossenhain in Sachsen.
A note says she is a cousin, but I don't know her.

1918.  This is my grandfather's friend and colleague as she signs the back.  She is Anni Buchholz of Schoenebeck.  She is an apprentice at Schlesinger's.

The wedding of Herbert and Gertrud took place in 1930 in Dresden.  Their picture was taken by Hermann Gross Photohandlung in Dresden North at Leisniger Platz 1.  Telephone 54118.  The Last name of this Bridal pair is not given :(

This is Bruno Krueger and Mrs. Kirchmoeser, teacher, mayor in Berlin, served 50 years at the parish, organist and music teacher and a bee keeper as well.

In 1934, Master Artisan and glass maker, Friedrich Mende posed for this picture in Salzwedel.

This one's for me.  Here is my first home.  My place is marked by the X.  This was in Zeilsheim, not too far from Frankfurt.  This appears to be different looking than when Jamie and I and Tyson went to see it in 2009.   There are now HUGE trees in the front of this, a playground and many more buildings of similar style all around it.  The trees were oaks and had little acorns falling of which I picked up several.  I wanted to keep them but they got sort of moldy...so I didn't.  It looks way different now.  But nothing stays the same.  And for me it was a treat to go there.

Lost and Found Photos Chapter 8

As I start the 8th segment of my grandfather's photos, I want to mention, that a great majority of these pictures are NOT my relatives.  They are acquaintances, friends of my grandfather whose pictures ended up in his books.  He has many more than what I will be putting on my blog, but they have no explanation...a lesson in labeling for the future.  Yes our own pics, we know everyone, but down the road???  Who knows.  The lady above is Amanda Ihlau of Schoenebeck, grandfather's school friend taken in 1917.

This photo taken in 1915 was a picture of my grandfather's 6th grade class.  If you look on the top right, there is an arrow pointing to my grandfather.  This would have probably been in Magdeburg.  The teacher was Mr. Lindekugel, who stands just under grandfather Hoeke.

Here is Emma Theuerkauf in 1915.  Interesting things in her hand, a jug of some sort, and a cup hanging from the spout.  I suspect...it's for milk.

In 1926, we have a photo of Fridel Rueger of Dresden.  Nice home and the clothes are definitely of the 20's, flapper style.

Here, also in 1926 is what appears to be her sister Hanna Rueger of Dresden in front of the same house.  Looks like maybe it was windy or else perhaps Hanna was having a bad hair day.  Good to know they had them back then, also.

This is "sister" Gabbert of Tangermuende in 1919.  Kind of an unflattering outfit...but oh well.

This was taken in 1924 in Riesa.  There is a + next to that.  So I think it meant that she had died, which by now, of course, would have been the case, however, I don't know when the mark was made.  And I don't know her name...

This is 1920 and here we have Rudolf who signs his last name with a big "flourish" making it hard to know exactly what his last name was.  I am guessing:  Lachmann, Lachmerz, Lachellerz...Sorry Rudolf, I hope if someone is looking for you, you didn't blow it with your fancy penmanship...

1928 we have a picture of Mickie and Budi Schulz, children of merchant Schulz of Dresden.  The photo is dated 22 Feb.  The photographer was Curt Pause on Borsbergstr. 1.

1922, a picture of Gustav Gabbert of Tangermuende dated Ostern (Easter 1922)  So maybe at communion time?

Summer 1934 finds Hedwig and Karl Wischeropp posing for this nice picture.  This name I see often in various church records that I have searched, but don't believe it ever crops up in any of my genealogy.

I totally like this hat.  It gives the lady the real "attitude" look.  It was taken in 1933 at R. Sparl photography in Dresden, Bautznerstr. 4.  This is Alfred Schuhknecht and his wife.  A "+" follows his notation.  With that uniform makes one wonder if he died in the War?

26 Sep. 1924 is the home of Albert Peter Fuerstenau in Kreis Arnswalde.  This photo, as so many of these is used as a "postcard"  (see below).  I am just showing the back of this card so that you can see what appears to be done commonly in this time period. 

I think it's kind of interesting how this was done in that time period.  I enjoy looking at these old photos.  Maybe someone will google his ancestor and find them on my blog.  I think it would be wonderful.  I am doing this because my mom lost all her childhood photos in World War II.  I am sure she wasn't the only one to do so...I would love to find her photos on the net that someone had in an old photoalbum or scrapbook.  One can only hope...

Silver wedding anniversary of Alwina and Albert Garz of Schoenhausen/Elbe on 27 Nov 1952.  Picture taken by Albert Brusch Photograph Schoenhausen/Elbe .  The couple seems to look old for being married 25 years.  Maybe a second marriage??

This is Bruno W. Kruger and wife Lene on his 80th birthday on 23 Nov 1962.

All I can say about this is that it is Ida Schraeber.  No year or place.

Greetings from the Kagelmann guys.  The year is 1928.

This is the Reverand Weirich who served at St. Jacobi in Magdeburg from 1914-19 and died in 1920.
