100-Lecie Parafii 1916-2016 by Adam Czmuchowski

This is a little bit different kind of a book review and is also being posted on my book review blog.  This is a book about one of my ancestral towns.  It is about the parish church 100th anniversary in Klein Tschansch. This is a part of Breslau/Wroclaw.  My mother was born in Breslau and her mother put her and her sister in the convent here for child care during the week.  I knew my mother had been in a convent but she always thought it was the Ursulinen convent in Breslau.  However, through the Melde/moving records of Breslau I discovered that she and her sister had both stayed here.

I am not sure about the availability of this book.  But if anyone else shares a common ancestral history, it will be great information to know about.  The author is a well-versed and educated man who knows incredible amounts of historical information about the entire Catholic complex that served the people here.

I just wanted to share this with all of you.  I met Adam Czmuchowski on one of my trips to Poland and it was a wonderful experience to be able to learn some of the things he shared with me.

Panowie Na Koszecinie by Edward Goszyk And Other Polish Books

I received this book from a cousin.  I already had it but am letting you know about it.  It is a book on the forestry of Koschentin/Koszecin, Poland.  I purchased my book from the author on an earlier trip there.  It was published in 2008.

Another book I received today was Monografia Solectwa Strzebin.  History of the towns of Strzebin, Bagno, Prady, Lazy and Kurzichowe and Bukowice.  The author was Jozef Kochanek and it was published in 2004.

Another book was Koszecinskie Koscioly i Kapliczki by Jan Myrcik.  This book is also a duplicate of one that I had.  It is about the church in Koschentin.

Also a booklet by Jan Myrcik  Called Slask, the Polish dance troupe in Koszecin.

I also received a book with the Hohenlohe genealogy.  It was written by Arkadiusz Kuzio-Podrucki in 2012.

Another about the sports competitions in Koszecin.  Written in 2008, also by Jozef Kochanek.

Pro Memoria Tom I by Jan Myrcik

I was able to receive a recently published book by Jan Myrcik who is the proprietor of a local history museum in Koszecin where a large amount of my ancestors are from.  In this book, the topics of war casualties and fatalities from Koszecin are covered.  It includes the names of many of the participants of various wars, WWI, WWII, and some others in which villagers from Koszecin took part.

I was able to find many of my relatives listed in this book of 108 pages.  The book also includes many letters from the military informing villagers of the loss of the relatives, sons, fathers and so forth who were determined missing and those that had been killed in battle.  The book is written in the Polish language and includes the above mentioned letters, many of which were in the German language.  It included photos of some of those that were killed or missing.  For the Koschentin/Koszecin researcher this book is of great interest.

Slasky Lowy by Edward Goszyk

This book was written by an author that I met while on a trip to Poland.  Edward Goszyk was suggested to me by others to be an expert on hunting, forestry and foresters of the area of my ancestor, Franz Gralla.  Franz Gralla was forest ranger in the forests of Koszecin in the late 1800's.  I had received some books from Mr. Goszyk at the time of my visit in 2007.

I was very delighted to receive a copy of his latest book about forests and hunting in the area of Silesia.

I am not quite certain where the book is available.  However, upon doing an internet search I find the following link to some information about it.  And it can be purchased at this Polish site. And also this Polish dealer.  I have not found an America dealer, but perhaps I have missed it.

This 344 page book is written in Polish and discusses the world of hunting and forestry in Silesia. It is illustrated with drawings and photographs which were very interesting to me to see.
