Scheitniger Park

Here is   the link!  What is a Melde record, you ask?  It is a wonderful way to know where families moved to both in and out of a city!  They often give specific moves from apartment to apartment, home to home in that city as well.  My mother lived in the city of Breslau and through the Melde records of Breslau, I was able to track every move her mother made before they left Breslau in January of 1945.  Then I was able to go to Breslau, now Wroclaw in Poland and visit every place where my mother lived and retraced her steps throughout her growing up location.  It was a wonderful and gratifying experience!

On This Day I Walked Where Mama Walked, Breslau Pt.2

I had wanted to do this in one article, but I was afraid something might happen because it was getting kind of large.  I didn't want to start all over.  So here is part 2!

These are the speakers for the fountains that dance to the music.  There are several speakers.  I took a shot of this because if you look inside there is a wire and on that wire is a plant growing up and up!

Well, this is about the end.  I finished my trip blog.  Yeah! Now on to other things.

On This Day I Walked Where Mama Walked, Breslau

Each time as I have driven "Richtung Breslau" I get like goose pimples just knowing that this was my mom's birthplace and that walkways and streets that I am about to walk on were those she must have walked, run, skipped on years and years ago before World War II altered the paths of her life.  I suspect had that not happened she might still be there.  Who knows...how this would have changed things and how everything turned out in life. But as it is, I appreciate the fact that she was able to take from those hard challenges and become the person she became.  So mom (and Tante Ruth, too) this is a picture walk through Breslau.  I know that I have already posted on Breslau, but this is a bit more for you to see.

These 2 building have a story behind them and one on the left is a shop with many Breslau dwarf figurines.  I will have to have Sylwia tell me the story again, because my memory fails me.  Too much to soak in.
