The Wapaniki

Apparently this is a stone making place and there was something of this sort in Nogowschuetz, as well.  Here a note from Christoph Sottor in that regard:

In Nogowczyce gab auch kleine Fabrik ähnlich zu diese "wapiennik".Es gab Köhlerei und Pottaschesiedebrenerei.Köhlerei das sin Ofen zu verbrennung des Holzes so das entsteht Holzkohle. Diese Holzkohle wurde im Vorwerk in Nogowczyce in grossen Kesseln gekocht und so wurde Pottasche(Kaliumcarbonat) gewonnen.Pottasche brauchte man zu Produktion von Seife,Glas,Farben und Backpulver.
Diese Fabrik in Nogowczyce gab in der I Hälfte von XIX Jh. aber ich vermute das gab diese schon vor Ende des XVIII Jh.
Holz gab genug.Im XVIII Jh. Nogowczyce das war Dorf fast im Wald.
Ich vermute das diese Fabrik gab schon ab ca.1780.Im Juli 1777 Nogowczyce wurden durch Orkan völlig zerstört und alle Wälder rund um Nogowczyce sind gefallen.
Üblich war das damals auch Dorfbewohner dürften was verdienen nicht nur beim Arbeit im Wald (Gaststätte in Nogowczyce hieß "Waldman`s Ruh") aber auch durch abgabe Asche aus verbrannten  Holz zu Hause.Kohlereien und Pottaschebrennereien gab oft in Dörfern im XVIII und I Hälfte XIX Jh.

What is a Wapaniki???

Ok, so we saw this map and Sylwia checked it out thoroughly.  We could go sightseeing and see the "Wapaniki".  What is this I asked her?  Well, in a nearby village of Golina we found out, but even after studying it on the internet, we really don't know what it was...except that a Jewish man "created" the Wapaniki and was successful.  So was it a storage place or what was it??? 
You tell me!
