Jarischau Parish Reconstruction Update

Well, I haven'y posted an update in quite a while.  I now have 6,000 entries in my excel file and I still need to enter lots of data.  Hopefully I can get some of this done.  After all, this is my favorite genealogy project, and the one I think is most worthwhile.

In case you have not been aware before, the church records of Jarischau Kr. Gross Strehlitz were destroyed.  I have been working to help find some of the families, including my own, that lived in this community.

A couple of years ago, I was there and photographed the cemetery, also.  There are/were about 700 stones. But for today, I will post the names that are now in the file.  I will also keep working on this file!  If you have new information, please send me what you have and I will add it to the documentation that I have.

  1. Hello - I just stumbled across your blog. I'm astounding at the information you've been able to obtain and post. For years now, I've been hitting a brick wall on where my Polish ancestors were from before coming to Browerville, MN. The most I could get from church records was Silesia. Yesterday, I stumbled on your blog after a google search and was amazed at the names of the gravestones you posted. Including my family, Cygan, many other names of the early settlers of Browerville, MN are listed here. It's amazing to see they were all neighbors and then settled in the same area in the US. Do you know where exactly Jarischau Parish is in Poland? Also, do you have pictures of the gravestones? I would love to see the Cygan ones, so I can add those names to my family tree. I know so little about this side of the family. Thanks! Scott Walters
